“If positive psychology teaches us anything , it is that we are all a mixture of strengths and weaknesses. No one has it all; no one lacks it all.

— Christopher Peterson

For the new current year, society may unite behind a single goal; to better themselves and their lives.

For this reason, psychology can play a role in our personal development. Learning about our personalities’ origins can help us create constructive, even unique approaches to observe improvement in ourselves.

Here are the top three ways psychology can be used to our daily routine to actually complete what we put ourselves out to change, yet struggle to accomplish.

  1. Prioritize goals

A goal-setter is a person who is focused and goal-oriented likely to perceive a positive  approach towards their way of living. Mentioned by positive psychology,

“Setting goals is linked with higher motivation, self-esteem, self-confidence, and autonomy (Locke & Latham, 2006), and research has established a strong connection between goal-setting and success (Matthews, 2015)”.

Adding on , organizing your ideas is essential to follow the next steps. The key is to be realistic, yet specific.

  1. Learning about your behavior

When prioritizing your goals , it is proven that some of your traits of behavior could put a pause on improving. You need to be critical and analyze those traits in order to break them and making sure they aren’t an obstacle. Question your environment, within this– the people around you , the factors that may change your behavior in an unwanted way. It’s proven to be helpful to make a list of the attitudes that you most dislike, figuring the reasons behind them and creating a solution. Reward yourself after completing one of your solutions!

  1. Overthinking in a positive way

Most nowadays struggle with overthinking, a habit that involves thinking too much or too long about something. Getting stuck over thoughts that stop you from moving to take actions in your life as they tend to be full of negativity is an example of overthinking. You are able to change that and turn these thoughts toward the positive. By overthinking in a positive way you are allowing yourself to manifest good outcomes instead of fearful ones.

When you’re in the wrong head space, try to tell yourself the contrary with affirmations that end up being vital towards setting your thoughts with the goals you have in mind. Affirm to yourself , even write it down various times , in a future tense as if you have accomplished it already.

Remove self doubt and replace it with figuring out what you’re trying looking for to magnetize your desires into action.

Challenge yourself to start learning about the weaknesses that don’t allow you to move forward to strengthen your life. Start off small and incorporate these methods setting your initiative to grow!
