Making Valentine’s Day Memorable
February 15, 2022
Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year that everyone either hates or loves.
During the weeks building up to it, you can go on any social media site and see the countless memes about “spending the 14th with Netflix and food.” If you go into the comments, they’ll be flooded with thousands of people laughing and saying how relatable the post is.
Then, there are the couples who never know what to do on this romantic day. The main pick is almost always going out to eat at a nice restaurant, but that can get boring (and packed) quickly.
So, because of the lack of ideas on both sides, here are some fun and exciting ideas on how to spend your Valentine’s Week. There will be recommendations for all kinds of people, whether you’re in a relationship or single.
Ideas for the Couples:
Try out an escape room
Escape rooms are an extremely underrated activity because people don’t realize how much fun they actually are. You have to figure out how to escape a room within a certain amount of time and use the clues you’re given to solve the puzzles. The more puzzles you solve, the closer you are to escaping.
This activity is one that will bring two people closer than before, while still being very exciting. It forces you two to work together and combine your skills in order to become a great, effective team. It may not be the most romantic activity, but it will be the most fun!
Go to a drive-in movie
Drive-in movies are a classic and have been a favorite among couples for decades. You get to stay in the comfort of your car and enjoy a movie without any of the usual annoyances you get at movie theaters. It’s a very romantic activity and perfect for Valentine’s Day because it’s easy and a lovely way to spend time with your significant other.
Cook a meal together
Everyone has heard of going to a restaurant with your significant other, but what about cooking an actual meal with them?
Cooking a meal is a much more personal and creative activity than simply going out to eat. You can create whatever food you desire and have a fun experience along the way. If you’re craving something fancy, you can roast some chicken and vegetables. If you are going for something more chill and easy, then pizza or pasta is a great choice.
It can get messy and confusing, but it will be a great memory to look back on in the future.
Ideas for the Singles:
Host a game night
Instead of being all alone on Valentine’s, get together with friends and play some games!
The options are endless with this activity. You can make it into a tournament and compete for a prize, have people pair up into teams, or just relax and play a couple of easy games. These games can range anywhere from classic favorites on the Nintendo Switch, like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, to old-school board games, like Parchessi and Heads Up (charades).
No matter what way you choose to do it, everyone is sure to have fun and spend a great time together.
Throw a charcuterie board party
Just in case you don’t know, a charcuterie board is an appetizer board that features all kinds of different food and flavors, and it usually comes before the main dish. It’s fun to assemble and has gained lots of awareness lately through social media, namely TikTok, where it’s become a trend to host charcuterie board nights. What this entails is everyone getting assigned a theme for their board and putting their all into assembling it. Some themes can include dessert, candy, sushi, junk food, and so many more. So just gather up some friends and go!
This idea is incredibly unique and extremely enjoyable, because everyone will get to eat a delicious variety of food, while spending time with their friends. Plus, creating a charcuterie board is exciting, since you have total control over how to design it.
Have a self-care day
If you’re a person who prefers to be alone, then having a self-care day is the perfect idea for you. It’s a day dedicated to making you feel relaxed and happier through various activities that help you physically and mentally. You can do a face mask, paint your nails, eat a nice meal, create a cool makeup look, read a book, or watch your favorite movie.
You don’t have to do every activity or even more than one. Having a self-care day is all about you and what you like to do, so feel free to adjust it towards what will make you feel your best!
With that, I hope you all have a fantastic Valentine’s Week, whether you’re single or with your special someone.
