Sports Flash-Beginning of February

Greetings, ILS Family! 

Here is your weekly sports flash and upcoming sports schedule.

Girls’ Soccer: Lady Royals Soccer take down SLAM for a 4-0 win in the District Quarter-Final match. Rebecca Baldelomar returned from a season long injury to score 2 goals in the match. Jasmine Gutierrez and Alessandra Alvarez both had 1 goal. Javiera Escobar and Natalie Islami each had 1 assist. Ana Salcedo and Karina Holcombe combined for the shutout.

Girls’ Basketball: Lady Royals defeated Calvary Christian 42-35. Rachael Restrepo finished the game with 15 points 6 rebounds and Mary Scheuerle finished the game with 13 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the way.

The girls also dominated their Senior Night against Keys Gate Academy 66-19. Senior Mary Scheuerle finished her last home game with an incredible 28 points and 21 rebounds to lead the way for our Royals. Rachael Restrepo finished with 11 points 8 assists with Sarah Burgoyne and Caroline Barrabes contributing 9 and 8 points respectively.

They closed out the 3 game week with another win. They took down the iMater Knights 35-25.

Boys’ Basketball: Picked up a big win against Westminster 54-52. They won thanks to a last second three point shot by Eke Rüütel! Leading the way for the Royals was Eke who had 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocks. Sam Garcia Medina came up big with a double-double 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The JV team picks up two last second victories as well wthis week. First they took down Florida Christian 44-41 with a game winning 3 pointer by Andreas Llamas. Austin Dunbar had 11 points 5 rebounds while Wes Gordon had 10 points and 3 assists. Alessio Saumat also had a good game with 10 points.

JV also defeated WCS in exciting fashion 41-39 thanks to Wes Gordon’s game-winning free throws at the end of the game. Top performers for JV were Alessio Saumat who had 16 points and Wes Gordon with 12 points.

Girls’ Soccer traveled to Carrollton to take on Ransom in the District Semi-Final.

Boys’ Soccer travels to Ransom to take on SLAM for the District Semi-Final.

(Soccer teams that win advance to the Championship game on 2/2.

Girls’ Basketball traveled to SLAM to take on Gulliver in the District Quarter-Final.

(Winner advanced to the Semi-final game on 2/1 @ SLAM)
