Color Wars- Senior Privilege?

Alina Figueroa, Writer

Hoco week begins!

Hoco week started with color wars. Color wars is when each grade dresses up in their class colors. Freshmen are purple, sophomores are orange, juniors are blue and seniors are red. Each grade competes in a series of games against each other to decide who wins color wars.

“I loved being able to tell who was in what grade. I think the seniors definitely had the most spirit. I feel like the freshmen needed a bit more excitement and spirit. I didn’t know what to expect, so it definitely reached my expectations. It was more enjoyable and exciting than what I thought it would be,” said freshman Valentino Morales-Salas.

“I think that this year, because we knew what to expect, it wasn’t as fun as freshman year. When you are coming into high school, color wars and all of Hoco week is new and different from what we did in middle school,” said sophomore Blanca Ruiz.

Since 2018, seniors have won color wars. Surprisingly, this year they won again. How is it that seniors always win? Is it because they have the most school spirit, or is it because it’s their last year?

Seniors put all of their energy into color wars, not like other grades.

Chandler explained how last year they lost because their grade did not put any effort into color wars. As of right now, seniors have yet to lose a color war. Students believe that the system is rigged and no matter what the true outcome is, seniors will always win!
