Think pink!

Think pink!

October is not only special because of Halloween as t it is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM). Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women? The good is that if diagnosed early, there is a 99% survival rate.
The reason there are copious amounts of pink at ILS and all around us is that according to the American Cancer Society, the color pink represents the survivors, those we have lost to breast cancer, and is in support of the research and progress in combating breast cancer.

“Recognizing BCAM was important because as a woman, I sympathize for all the women who have to go through that traumatizing ordeal,” said junior Isabella Alzalti.

Thus, commemorating BCAM is more than just an excuse to dress down and wear pink; you are standing in solidarity with the victims and survivors of breast cancer. So, remember this month of October is about more than just Halloween.
