The iconic 1991 American supernatural black comedy film, The Addams Family, is back. Except instead of the screen version, it’s a stage version, more specifically, an ILS stage version.

Behind the scenes of the show.

The ILS Drama community has successfully put together an amazing play about the Addams family. Consisting of different scenes, musical acts and extremely captivating costumes/makeup, the Drama Club was able to put together this play in nine weeks, despite the fact that it usually takes 12 weeks to prepare.

“There are different parts that bring the team together. There are the actors and tech,” said junior Victoria Harding, who also goes by Vicky. Vicky is head of hair and makeup, also a part of the tech department.

“As head of hair and makeup, I put together all the makeup looks as well as the hair looks. I always make sure to teach the actors how to execute the looks, and I’m always making adjustments to any feedback the crew gives me,” she said.

In addition, there’s a very important part of the play that is significant behind the scenes. This is tech week, which is getting tech ready for the show.

“This is just a week for tech to pull through and be able to finish everything that they have to do,”, said Harding.

The show is about Wednesday Addams growing up and falling in love as Gomez Addams has to hide this secret from his wife, Morticia. Junior Sebastian Debora played Gomez Addams.

“A big part of the behind the scenes is memorizing the lines and always staying aware of what’s happening. It becomes more than just memorizing the lines; it’s actually turning into your character,” said Debora.

The show has a fantastic variety of scenes, including dancing and singing sequences where all the characters come together and portray the Addams family.

“My favorite part of the whole show is the grand  finale tango,” said Debora.
