Kanye West Controversy: Importance of Mental Health

Kanye West, who also goes by “Ye,” recently went on a rampage of interviews and different appearances before the public. Through this, he spewed conspiracy theories having to do with the industry, rants about religions, more specifically on the Jewish community, and he broke off business ties with the company Adidas.

“Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness,” Adidas released in a statement.

All of this caused Kanye West to be blocked on social networking sites (Instagram and Twitter), earning him considerable disapproval and disdain from well known people in the industry.

Ye, who also has bipolar disorder has been very open about his mental health and struggles on a daily, has expressed his sentiments before millions of people who have been witness to his daily struggles through social media. Through his music, he’s been able to express himself and his thoughts. From his rants on SNL, to an album cover with the words, “I hate being bipolar it’s awesome,” Ye has let his thoughts be well known.

We are able to see how mental illness can affect a person as well as their family, kids and friends. No matter how much money, success or power a person may have, mental struggles have an impact.
