The story by Dr. Seuss and classic Christmas movie, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” was released on November 17, 2000 . The movie includes some of America’s most famous actors such as Jim Carrey, Christine Baranski, Jeffrey Tambor, and many more. From this movie, Jim Carrey who plays the main character, The Grinch, won the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain in 2001.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas is a Christmas movie that has been watched by many because of its beautiful message that Christmas is not about how many presents one gets, but it is about how one shows kindness, love, and willingness to share with others.

The movie starts off with the Grinch and his dog Max, closed off to themselves in a cave away from the people of Whoville who are excited and joyful about Christmas. It is explained later in the movie that when the Grinch was a child in school, the children made fun of him for being different.

When it was Christmas time, he created a self made gift for his crush Marthamay. As he was giving it to her, he wore a brown paper bag to cover his cuts from shaving, which then led to the teacher to force him to take it off. When he took it off, the children and teacher started laughing at him. Triggering his anger, he began to cause a ruckus by knocking down gifts and throwing a Christmas tree repeating the phrase, “I hate Christmas.”

Ever since that incident, the Grinch hated Christmas. One day he decided to disguise himself and go into town to ruin the holiday for the rest of the Whos by stealing all of their gifts. In doing so, he met a little girl named Cindy Lou who throughout the movie guides him in becoming a nicer person. At the end of the movie, the Grinch helps deliver all the presents to the town and sings along to the song “Welcome Christmas.”

I particularly love this movie because of its change from the present day scenery. I enjoy how the town looks completely different from my everyday view of downtown Miami and Biscayne. The bond that was created between Cindy Lou and the Grinch made an impact on me because it showed how influential an innocent and loving child can be to the world.

The message behind the movie was made very clear throughout the movie, which I believe to be wonderful because this movie is watched by mostly children and I think that it is important that they learn the true meaning of Christmas.

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who is searching for a movie to watch with the family during the Christmas holiday. This film is worth seeing because it fills one with joy and the holiday spirit. Before clicking on a new series on Netflix, take the time to grab a cup of hot chocolate, a blanket, and watch “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.”
