The boys ILS baseball team got back on track last Friday with a win over Hialeah Educational Academy 7-4. The Royal Lions responded to a tough loss versus iMater Academy earlier in the week to even their seasonal record to 4-4.

The winning pitcher was senior Carlos Herrera. Senior Max Guillen came in to pitch late in the game for the save.

Junior Dominic Sorondo went 3-for-3 at the plate, with a triple and three RBI. Senior Justin Quintana went 2-for-4 in the game as well. Quintana has posted a .316 batting average and .440 on-base percentage so far this season.

Senior Damian Carames was having a spectacular start to his season, leading the team with a .450 batting average in 20 at-bats. Carames also had a whopping .577 on-base percentage. His ability to get on base was a major catalyst for the Royal Lions offense.

Senior Zachary Barrios was pitching well this season, too. He posted a 2.55 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 11 innings pitched.

Justin Quintana received an athletic Scholarship last week to attend St.Thomas University, which was No. 2 in the nation in NAIA before the season was suspended. Quintana should sign with St. Thomas at some point soon.
