Italy features so many historic as well as cultural sights that many students here at ILS have chosen to pursue understanding the language.

Buongiorno, lasse!! In the coming school year, ILS will welcome an AP Italian course. With this news, many students seem to be excited to continue learning the language. Italian has been very popular at ILS over the years so adding the AP course has been met with great enthusiasm.

“I chose Italian because I love the language and I visit Italy often. I wanted to understand and get to talk to the people there and relate to the culture,” said senior Miranda Dunbar.

In Italian classes, students don’t just learn the language. They also immerse themselves in Italian culture. Cultural immersion is considered essential by language acquisition experts who know the more a student understands the culture, the better he or she will understand the language.

“I wanted to learn the language so that I could better understand when I visited again.” said senior Sabrina Vilamizar.

Members on the Executive Board of the Italian H0nor society believe AP Italianon will be very popular since many of the current Italian-language students want to continue deepening their understanding.

“I think Mrs. Barbara Tomasoni is one of the best teachers.  She will truly dedicate herself to helping her students learn the language and pass the AP Exam,” said senior and President of the Italian Honor Society, Miranda Dunbar.
