Yesterday on October 27th, the Varsity Football team faced Monsignor Edward Pace High School for the yearly Homecoming game. Unfortunately, there was a twist to it with the game ending with a 0-25, an unexpected loss for the Royal Lions. Going into the game around six starting players total were either recovering from an injury or were completely out for the rest of the season, leaving most of the remaining starters to carry the rest of the team, meaning they had to be kept in no matter what throughout the whole game. This decreased the amount of time they were each given to rest and recover for the following play. Furthermore, during the third quarter of the game, the team suffered an additional loss, quarterback freshman Anthony McQueen also sustained an injury.

“To see all the people that came out and support us, and the band was amazing and the cheers was like music to my ears, even though we were not able to pull off a win, it was an experience that I’ll never forget,” said junior and Varsity Football player Jaden John.

During halftime the Homecoming Court for each class walked onto the field.

For the freshmen class, the Homecoming Princess and Prince were Aya Bardawill and Dante Caicedo. The Sophomore winners were Helenn Montilla and Hector Pires. For the junior class, Princess Megan Dominguez and Prince Gianfranco Arguello. Finally, even though the senior class had to vote for a Homecoming king and Queen, instead the winners were not chosen until the dance the following day. Senior class winners were Alfonsina Santucho and Everson Liberte.

“It was so exciting to know that i had won homecoming king because its one of those unforgettable high school experiences that i am so grateful to be apart of,” said senior Everson Liberte
