The Tesla CEO who recently purchased Twitter has already instituted major changes to the social media platform.

Elon Musk has owned Twitter for over a week, yet, he has already made a huge impact. Many employees’ jobs are at risk. Some have reportedly been instructed to work 12-hour shifts, seven days a week to hit certain deadlines, with their jobs at stake if they don’t do as they are asked. He has already changed a lot about the app including:

Paying for Verification:

Musk has plans to charge $8 a month to anyone who would like to have a blue verification check mark. Users would also have to pay if they already have one and would like to keep it.

Changes to the Homepage:

People who aren’t logged onto Twitter used to be welcomed by a start-up page. Within 24 hours of taking over the company, Musk told the engineers to redirect logged out visitors to the Explore page which shows trending tweets and news stories

No More Remote Work:

Employees will no longer have the option to work remotely. There will be some exceptions, however, as he plans to reverse the company’s work-from-anywhere policy.

Vine’s Return:

On Sunday, Musk will submit a poll asking simply, “Bring back Vine?” Nearly 5 million replied, with 70% saying yes. Within the same day, reports were made where he ordered developers to start working, with an end of the year deadline to bring back the site.

Many celebrities and influencers don’t agree with the changes and have made the decision to leave twitter.

If Elon Musk did not own Twitter, Kyrie Irving and Kayne West would have both been banned this week.
