Running can arguably be considered one of the easiest forms of exercise because you can do it with only sneakers and an open space. Running has also been popular for years, but why is it becoming so trendy now? Since people are looking for ways to get in shape in 2024, running is efficient, freeing, and can be done in versatile areas. Senior Pierina Santeusanio runs as part of her HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) classes at her gym F45.

“I do sprints on the treadmill at the gym. In my HIIT classes, sprinting is incorporated for two minutes straight. I feel like the more I practice my sprints, the more endurance I gain,” said Pierina.

Running can be done in different forms such as jogging, sprinting, and completing a marathon. It can also become a new hobby for you and a way to spend time with friends as it has for senior Miranda Dunbar.

“I spontaneously decided to run a 5k with my friends. I did it on a cool Saturday morning which is surprising weather in Miami. The environment was amazing and I felt super energized and amazing afterwards. I enjoyed it so much so that I am going to do one every month now,” said Miranda.

Running can be utilized as a form of conditioning. It improves your stamina and gives you a sense of accomplishment. This is the case for senior Rebecca Baldelomar as she runs to train for other sports.

“I run for the Track and Field team at ILS. I do the short distance events, specifically the 100 and 200 meter sprints. Occasionally, I also do the 400 meter which is a whole lap around the track. I run to get in shape and stay fit for soccer. After races, I feel great mentally because I know that I accomplished something productive. Every time I reach a new PR (personal record), it motivates me to push myself even more the next time I run,” said Rebecca.

If you want to race to success in 2024, give running a try and enjoy its benefits!
