House Music fans get into the rhythm of DJ HugeL as he plays his music.

House music has become very popular in recent years, originating originally in Chicago in the 1980’s, it is an electronic dance music with influences from pop and soul. Although, with technological advances, it has become easier to make and much more popular.

“I love house music! It makes me want to dance!” exclaimed senior Andrea De Armas.

When people think of house music, they usually think of it playing at a party or a festival. Since the popularity of electronic music grew, there have been many different festivals in Miami alone, like After Life, Ultra, Fortitude, etc.

“Yeah, my older sister is going to Ultra and After Life this year; he says it’s amazing!” said senior Mia Marquez.

Because of technological advances making house music and just music in general, it has become incredibly easier to produce. When before you would need special equipment to just start out, nowadays you can use GarageBand on your Macbook to create whatever you want. Not only that, but you can now stream your music pretty much anywhere, like Spotify, Soundcloud, or YouTube. Most people now can say that they personally know a DJ.

“One of my older brother’s friends is a DJ now. Since he graduated, he started creating more and now he plays in clubs,” shared senior Andrea Celada.

House artists have even been number one in the charts, allowing other singers to collaborate with them to try something new, and to create new sounds. These collaborations with mainstream artists will bring more people into the house music world,  House music will only continue to grow in popularity. It truly is a great creative outlet for many people looking to break into the music industry.
