“Missing”- Movie Review

“Missing” is such a generally used word to represent as basic as a lost earring to emotionally powerful as a yearning for family that is far away. In the case of this latest film release, or you are missing your family. But in this case, “Missing” means gone and lost.
“Missing” is about a daughter named June, 18 years old, and a mother named Grace. Grace goes on a trip to Colombia with her boyfriend, Kevin Lin. But on the day June was supposed to pickup her mother and boyfriend form the airport, they did not arrive. Her mother was not answering the phone or texts. June then started to get worried. She used her technology skills to try and figure out what may have happened to her mother. But as she explores further, she keeps finding more and more information and has found too many questions, but no answers.
The movie was released this year, 2023. It is 1hr and 50 mins and as of this week, it is only available in the movie theaters.
“Missing” was directed by Nicholas D. Johnson and Will Merrick. Nicholas is know for directing the movie Searching that was released in 2018. Will Merrick directed About Time (2013), and A classic Horror Story (2021).
“I really enjoyed the movie, I feel like it was a movie where you did not know what to expect. I went into the movie not knowing what it was about and I came out stunned. It was something different and something that you do not see often” said sophomore Carolina Moreno.
“Missing” is recommended for the people that like jump scare and violent movies. It is a movie where you don’t know what to expect. It is also not recommend for people that do not like invective behavior and alarming scenes. It has several mildly disturbing scenes but nothing too glory.
“‘Missing’ was not one of my favorite movies that i have watched, but it was definitely interesting. I did not like that everything was filmed for the point of view of a computer. It made sense why they would film it like that and it was something different and new, but I feel like sometimes it was too much to look at once” said sophomore, Blanca Ruiz.
This movie is rated pg-13. So far, 91% of people that have watched this movie have liked it.
Overall, “Missing” is a highly suggested movie that has altered and changed the view of film-making.
