Is Love Truly Blind?

Victoria Betancourt, Editor in Chief

The Netflix series Love is Blind decides to explore the title of this article. If you already want to know the answer, results may vary.

In the second season of this social experiment, we get to follow the process of 6 couples who found themselves in love with each other and engaged before they even saw each other face to face.

The whole premise of the show is to see if couples can meet sight unseen and get engaged solely based on an emotional connection. After they leave these pods they meet in, it’s time to test whether or not the real world will get in the way of them getting married.

In the long run, only two couples got married at the end and it was probably for the best for all participants.

One couple didn’t even make to the altar. The quote-on-quote break up happened after a meeting with parents where one of them realized their partner wasn’t the one due to the difference in spirituality.

Meanwhile, the rest were ready for their big day and this is when the true decisions came out. Some of the “I don’t”’s were somewhat jarring and not expected. There were two couples who simply thought they needed more time and weren’t ready for marriage just yet. However at the reunion, their love just wasn’t strong enough to continue after the fact.

In the end though, the majority of the participants agreed that the experiment did work and claim that love truly is blind despite the fact not all of them got married.

All episodes are currently streaming on Netflix and keep your eyes out for the spin-off social experiment coming out soon titled The Ultimatum.
