Columbus or Indigenous People’s Day 2022?

Nonetheless, Columbus Day is a U.S. holiday that is celebrated every year.

This year it fell on October 10, which Biden decided is both Indigenous People’s Day, and Columbus Day

Columbus day in 22 states is considered a holiday, and in 28 states it is considered a federal holiday

Traditionally, the holiday recognizes Italian explorer Christopher Columbus’ landing in America.

In fact this holiday to the anti-Italian was a response, President Harrison created this holiday in 1892

In August of 1492, Columbus set sail with his crew which amounted to three ships:  the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.

Given Columbus’ ethnicity, in many places across the U.S. this day is also for celebrating Italian-American heritage.

As we all know the Earth is round but Columbus didn’t prove that

Columbus day is not celebrated in some states by choice

Some states that don’t celebrate Columbus Day by choice is Alaska, Vermont, Maine, parts of California, and etc

Though several U.S cities celebrate Columbus Day, and even though it’s a federal government holiday, not everyone has the day off.
