Economics teacher Ms. Juliette Joseph, has been at ILS for two lively years.  Students have described her as a wonderfully compassionate teacher.

“Ms. Joseph is one of the best teachers! She creates a PowerPoint that is straightforward and to the point, she doesn’t require notes, but it definitely helps! If you are ever confused about something she said ten times, she’ll still explain it and try her best,” said former student, Angelina Cabrera.

Ms. Joseph teaches her students about price increases or decreases with the quantity of a product (Gabriella Costa).

Angelina went on to say that Ms. Joseph is her favorite teacher at ILS.

“Her class is informative and sometimes enlightening,” said Gabriella Costa.

By “enlightening” Gabriella means that she feels her “eyes are opened” when in Ms. Joseph’s class.

“I studied business and economics,” Ms. Joseph explained.

Studying at St. Joseph’s College, Ms. Joseph was inclined to help others with financial advice, by teaching high school students about personal finances.

“I had an internship at Sara Lee… The food and dessert company,” Ms. Joseph recalled.

She would test product quality, and bolster their marketing. Along with this internship, she also interned at PDA and designed their logo. These positions helped her acquire work experience for future jobs.

“I have family in Italy where our family also owns a fig farm,” she said.

Although her family is in agriculture, Ms. Joseph does not participate in the cultivation of this orchard. But that does not stop her from loving this aspect of her family. In addition, to her business acumen, Ms. Joseph likes to travel.

“This past year I went to New Brunsworth, and Prince Edward island,” she said.

The people there speak French primarily— which Ms. Joseph—not a French speaker, found to be a challenge. Still, she adored the view of the ocean floor tides.

“I went camping a little while back which was a lot of fun,” she said.

Finding camping very therapeutic, Ms. Joseph considers it a “retreat” of sorts.

“My father taught me about how to identify birds, and to find edible berries,” she said.

Ms. Joseph’s love of nature sprouted into many aspects of her personality today.

“I was a Girl Scout from kindergarten to twelfth grade,” she recalled.

Eventually earning the Girl Scout Golden Award, this accolade provided her with a scholarship to St. Joseph’s College of which she is very proud to this day.
