Swim Team Performs At Regionals

Upcoming Sports Schedule:

XC Districts at Larry and Penny Park today.

Football team final game of the season vs Belen at Tropical Park. 7Pm kick off for the game this Friday.

Swimming team leave to states in the morning.

Saturday, November 4th, 2023: Boys Swimming team competes at the state meet.

GOO ROYALS

Cross Country: The XC team went to the Jr. Orange Bowl Invitational at Larry and Penny Thompson Park. The boys were led by senior Carlos Aldecoa who finished 59th out of 103 runners with a time of 19:34 and sophomore Giancarlo Missagia who finished 76th with a time of 20:36. The girls were led by senior Mariam Osman who finished 14th out of 84 runners with a time of 21:51.

The Running Royals finished off their regular season this past race. They’ve worked incredibly hard to improve week-by-week and are hoping to have set a platform to build off of for next season!  They will head into the post season at the District Finals at Larry and Penny Thompson Park.

Football: The football team got to honor its seniors this past home football game. They wanted to thank their seniors for everything they’ve done for ILS as well as the football program.

Volleyball: The Royal Lion Varsity volleyball teams season came to an end this past week. They fell the #1 seed in the region. We want to than the seniors for an amazing season and brining another district championship for the volleyball program!

Golf: The Royal Lions Golf season came to an end after District play  at Crandon. The boys were led by junior Hector Pires who shot an 86 and missed the cut for Regionals by 3 strokes. Senior Nick Dominguez finished his high school career with a 95. The girls were led by freshman Sophie Estrada who shot 107.

This young team will look to bounce back next season and make it past Districts. Thank you to our senior golfers for another great season!

Swimming: The ILS swimming team had the regional tournament with the swimmers who qualified from districts. The boys 200 medley relay qualified for states along with Lucas Young who was the regional champion in the 200IM and 100 breast!

Results:
Boys 200 medley relay – 1:39.65 5th place (Qualified to states!) Lucas Young, Joaquín Espinal, Lucas Franchak, Mathias Alvarado

Lucas Young- Regional champion: 200 IM and 100 breast (Qualified to states)

Lucas Franchak: 100 fly 2nd alternate for states

Cross Country: The girls were led by senior Mariam Osman who finished 11th out of 101 runners with a time of 21:41 and junior Ariana Armas who finished 30th with a time of 23:38. The girls finished seventh as a team ensuring their spot in the regional championship next week in Boca Raton.

The boys were led by senior Emmanuel Roca who finished district runner up (2nd out of 128 runners) with a time of 16:57. Sophomore Daniel Brito also posted a personal best time of 18:08 to finish in 14th place. The boys team as a whole finished in 5th place.

Both teams will look to continue their excellent seasons next Thursday November 9th at the Regional Championship at South Country Regional Park in Boca Raton.
