It can get easy to get sucked into your phone or glued to that 60-inch TV you have in your living room, but why do that for two weeks straight for the upcoming Christmas break? Here are a few ideas to try during the break other than getting your eyes stuck to your phone screen.
Fake Snow
As known, Miami is not exactly a cold place, so that makes it more difficult to get into the Christmas spirit while sweat is dripping down your back under this tremendous heat.
Luckily, there is a snow carnival at Aventura Mall with, of course, fake snow.
Not only is there fake snow, but there are also some games to play there that can go to use for quality time with friends and family, along with food and drinks.
“Miami is always in pure heat and I wish we could have at least a little bit of snow, but I’ll try out the snow festival,” said sophomore Eva Dusvitch.
Baking and Decorating Christmas cookies
Preparing cookies for Christmas is a classic activity once the holiday comes around. Someone could go simple and just bake a sugar cookie with some basic decorations or someone could go all out and bake gingerbread cookies with all sorts of decorations.
Cookies can also be cut to a specific shape with Christmas-themed cookie cutters such as in the shape of Santa Claus, a present, a Christmas tree, and more.
“Baking cookies is the best because you have an excuse to make a mess, and you are having fun, while at the same time getting cookies at the end,” said sophomore Isabella Baena.
Volunteering
One of the most exciting moments in the holidays is waking up on Christmas Day with the presents under the tree. However, some people do not get to experience that due to unfortunate circumstances.
Especially as Catholics, its important to give to those in need and make the absolute best of Christmas for them instead of constantly receiving and never giving.
