Soccer Team Won Districts

Here’s  your Sunday sports flash and upcoming sports schedule.
Boys Basketball: The Varsity Basketball team defeated Mater Brickel 43-40. Daniel Marin led the way for the Royals with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Alessio Saumat had 8 points and 4 rebounds.
Girls Basketball: Varsity basketball picked up another 2 big wins this week. First, they defeated Coral Gables 59-37. The team had an unprecedented 3 double-doubles in the game. Candy Cruz had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Caroline Brrrabes had 11 points and 12 rebounds while Alexandra Gonzalez Casar had 10 points 19 rebounds and 6 steals. Rachel Restrepo had 10 points in the game.
They also beat Coral Shores 47-26. Peilin Aguilar Hou had 10 points and 4 assists. Alexandra had another big game adding another double-double to her total with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Melissa Carrasco had 11 points. This win gave the girls a 6-game winning streak and current record of 12-6. They did snap that winning streak against WCS Friday but look to add to their win total this week.
Girls Soccer: The team lost its district match to Westminster Christian 0-1. The team waits the final rankings after district tournaments to see if they can still qualify for the regional tournament since they have a strong strength of schedule and record.
Boys Soccer: The team gets its first taste of district soccer play this week. After a BYE (no game) in the first round, they get a first time match up with Don Soffer in the semi-final round. That game will be held at Curtis Park with winner advancing to the Championship Match at Curtis Park against the winner of Westminster and SLAM.
Dance Team: The Dance team had a huge weekend at their dance competition. Below are the results from the competition.

8. Duet “Show me how” – High Gold & 1st place-(Teen) – Jailynn Saavedra and Sophia Estrada
9. Jazz Group Routine “No more tears”- High Gold & 2nd place
10. Hip Hop Group Routine “Skrt” – Platinum Award & 1st place
11. Solo “Sofie” – High Hold & 2nd place & (Teen) Title Winner – Jailynn Saavedra
12. Most Photogenic “Womanizer” – High Gold – Jailynn Saavedra
13. Lyrical Group Routine “Ave Maria” – High Gold Award
