Like any member of a team, teammates become family and the field becomes a home. It was in the Royal lion’s jungle that the team won the regional semis.

Saturday February 12 was a glorious day for the Immaculata-La Salle soccer team. The team played against University school of Fort Lauderdale. ILS stepped up and brought pride to their school  by winning 2-1. Both were goals from senior Kike Sosa and an assist from junior  Santiago Sanchez.

The ILS team raised the bar with an outstanding 27 shots. Three of these shots were made by sophomore Miguel Sosa, five by senior Dylan Btalha and 3 by junior Santiago Sanchez.

Not only did ILS take the lead, but senior star Kike Sosa also received man of the game.

For the team it was a bittersweet moment. They knew the end of the line was coming for some of them but played like never before and more united than ever.

“It was a great game where we had to stay focused and work hard in order to win the game; when the referee blew the whistle I couldn’t believe it because last time we had gotten that far was my freshman year,” said junior Santiago Sanchez.

The team has been together through thick and thin and has jumped through every hoop possible.

Each goal brought the crowd to scream and the bleachers to shake. By the end of the game, the entire team ran to their ILS family to be showered in love and admiration.

“The soccer team has grown on and off the field since the beginning of the season which has brought me closer to some of the players and I couldn’t be happier to be in this position,” said Santiago Sanchez.

The dedication doesn’t lack in this team as senior goalie Manel Lopez, junior Stefan’s Chiodi, junior Matias Paredes, and junior Marlon Bardi played 80 minutes and made every minute worth the sweat.
