Greetings, ILS Family.

Here is your weekly Sports Flash:

Girls Basketball: The Girls Basketball team won two games this week. First, they defeated Terra Institute 40-35. Leading the way for the Royals was Rachel Restrepo who scored 13 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Mary Scheuerle had 9 points, 16 rebounds and 5 steals. Sarah Burgoyne had 9 points off of three, three pointers.

Lady Royals took down the Hurricanes of Coral shores 34-24! Top Performers in the game were Mary Scheuerle with 13 points 11 rebounds and Rachael Restrepo 5 points 4 assists.

In a losing effort against Westminster Christian, ILS wishes to recognize Mary Scheuerle who recorded the first triple double in Girls Basketball school history with a stat line of 13 points 11 blocks and 19 rebounds in that game.

Boys Basketball: The Boys JV and Varisty basketball teams officially opened up its season this week with 2 wins. The JV took down Don Soffer 40-32. The team was led by Alessio Saumat who had 9 points 3 assists and Andreas Lamas with 9 points 5 rebounds.

The Varsity Royals also won dominating the game 64-29. Eke Rüütel had 15 points 7 rebounds 5 assists 3 steals. Alex Toledo had 15 points 2 rebounds, while Arman Du Lau D’ allemande had 15 points 2 rebounds 2 steals.

Both teams also defeated Coral Shores on Thursday night. JV took down the Hurricanes 39-27 behind the scoring of Justin Pastor who had 12 points 5 rebounds and Alessio Saumat with 9 points.

Varsity also won in convincing fashion 87-49. Alex Rauseo led the way for the Royals scoring 27 points with 8 three pointers in the game. Arman Du Lau D’allemand also had a great game with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Samuel Garcia-Medina added 8 points and 14 rebounds.

Boys Soccer: Royals got back on track with a big 8-0 win against a quality Divine Savior squad. Santiago Sanchez had 2 goals 3 assists. Mario Bardi added 2 goal, Miguel Sosa had 1 goal and 3 assists. Sebastian Ochoa 1 goal (PK) while Jose Plaza also added 1 goal. Javier Prieto had 1 assist. Sebastian Ochoa with the shutout (1).

The Boys JV Soccer team won a big game against Ransom 3-2. Gustavo Acosta had a hat trick with 3 goals. Nicolas Nauta, Evan Soto, Jose Plaza each had 1 assist.

JV also took down Mater Bay Academy 8 – 1. The team’s top perfomers, Gustavo Acosta 2 goals, Alex Von Simpson 1 goal 2 assists, Juan Colimodio 1 goal 1 assist, Marco Prealoni 1 goal 2 assist,

Eduardo Becerra, Gianluca Sperman, Lucas Partidas 1 goal each and Harry Prokopiou 2 assists.

Girls’ Soccer: The Lady Royals tied with a tough Divine Savior team 0-0. Ana Salcedo had her second shutout of the season.

Cheerleading: ILS Lady Royal Cheerleading Team Placed 2nd out of 5 teams and earned a bid to the National High School Cheerleading Championships in February. The team returns this week to regroup and get ready for their next competition December 17th

JV: For the first time in program history, the  JV team competed at UCA Regionals. These girls placed 5th out of 9 highly competitive teams. Their next competition is in January, so they will be taking the rest of the month to prepare.

Boys Basketball hosted Palmer Trinity.

Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer traveled to Florida Christian.

Wednesday, December 7, 2022:

Girls and Boys JV Soccer hosted McCarthy.

Girls Basketball traveled to Southwest  High school for a 3:30PM tip.

Thursday, December 8, 2022:

Girls Soccer hosts Gulliver.

Boys Basketball hosts SLAM.

Girls Basketball travel to NSU for a 5:30PM game.

Friday, December 9, 2022: 

Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer travel to Naples to take on our friends from St. John Neumann. Games are at 5 and 7 PM.
